Ingredients

  • For the Meatballs
  • 1 lb 1 ground beef

  • 1/2 cup 1/2 breadcrumbs

  • 1/4 cup 1/4 chopped onion

  • 2 cloves 2 garlic, minced

  • 1 large 1 egg

  • 1 tsp 1 salt

  • 1 tsp 1 black pepper

  • vegetable oil

  • For the Sweet & Sour Sauce
  • 1/2 cup 1/2 ketchup

  • 1/4 cup 1/4 rice vinegar

  • 1/2 cup 1/2 water

  • 2 tbsp 2 soy sauce

  • 1/4 cup 1/4 honey

  • 3/4 cup 3/4 brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp 1 cornstarch

  • For Garnish
  • white sesame seeds

Directions

  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, egg, salt and black pepper. Mix well until combined.
  • Shape into small meatballs, approximately 1 - 1.5" in diameter.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the ketchup, rice vinegar, water, soy sauce, honey, brown sugar and cornstarch until well combined. Set the sauce mixture aside.
  • In a large saucepan or skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook them until they are browned on all sides and cooked through.
  • Pour the sauce mixture into the pan with the meatballs and bring it to a simmer over medium heat. Reduce the heat to low and let the meatballs simmer in the sauce for an additional 5-10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  • Stir occasionally until it thickens and reaches a glossy consistency. Remove the pan from heat.
  • Transfer the sweet and sour meatballs to a serving dish, pouring the sauce over them. Sprinkle the white sesame seeds as a garnish.
