- For the Meatballs
1 lb 1 ground beef
1/2 cup 1/2 breadcrumbs
1/4 cup 1/4 chopped onion
2 cloves 2 garlic, minced
1 large 1 egg
1 tsp 1 salt
1 tsp 1 black pepper
vegetable oil
- For the Sweet & Sour Sauce
1/2 cup 1/2 ketchup
1/4 cup 1/4 rice vinegar
1/2 cup 1/2 water
2 tbsp 2 soy sauce
1/4 cup 1/4 honey
3/4 cup 3/4 brown sugar
1 tbsp 1 cornstarch
- For Garnish
white sesame seeds
Directions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, egg, salt and black pepper. Mix well until combined.
- Shape into small meatballs, approximately 1 - 1.5" in diameter.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the ketchup, rice vinegar, water, soy sauce, honey, brown sugar and cornstarch until well combined. Set the sauce mixture aside.
- In a large saucepan or skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook them until they are browned on all sides and cooked through.
- Pour the sauce mixture into the pan with the meatballs and bring it to a simmer over medium heat. Reduce the heat to low and let the meatballs simmer in the sauce for an additional 5-10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- Stir occasionally until it thickens and reaches a glossy consistency. Remove the pan from heat.
- Transfer the sweet and sour meatballs to a serving dish, pouring the sauce over them. Sprinkle the white sesame seeds as a garnish.
