Melissa’s Sidecar

sidecar cocktail

Once in a great while, I try to surprise my husband by making a new cocktail since he is the resident bartender. I found this one when looking for classic cocktails. It’s citrusy and sweet with the brandy but has plenty of kick.

I love the Sidecar because it’s refreshing in the heat but is also well suited for cozy nights by the fire. The Ritz Hotel in Paris, France, claims the Sidecar as their cocktail, saying it was created around the end of World War I.

  • 2 oz 2 Brandy

  • 1 oz 1 Triple sec

  • 1/2 oz 1/2 Lemon juice

  • 1 oz 1 Simple syrup

  • juice from about 1/4 of an orange

Directions

  • Add all ingredients to a shaker
  • Add 3 ice cubes
  • Shake vigorously, then pour into a sugar rimmed glass (a martini glass works well)
